Over 42,000 kilos of WEEE were collected by the Recycling Patrol

The educational program Recycling Patrol, unfolded between 15 November 2011 – 15 June 2012, announces its results and winners. The 2011-2012 edition focused on WEEE collection projects, public information and environment protection activities. 

206 schools from 7 counties and  17,095 children joined the program and got involved in collection campaigns and activities of raising awareness on the correct disposal of WEEE. 54 schools reported on their creation projects and collection promotion activities and 24 schools sent proposals for the poster of the next edition. The children have collected 42,000 kilos of WEEE in less than 5 months.
The agents of the Patrol were rewarded for their endeavours within ceremonies organized in Alexandria, Bistrița, Călărași, Deva, Ploiești, Timișoara and Tulcea, between 5-14 June 2012.
The three local awards were: the greatest WEEE amount collected/child (projector, screen, dvd player and speakers), the most active teacher (digital camera) and the most pro-active team (DVD player)
At the national level, the awards were  the greatest WEEE amount collected/child (projector, screen, dvd player and speakers), the most active teacher (micro hi-fi system) and the best poster (LCD),drawn up by the most creative participants, that will inspire the design of the poster for the next edition resuming this autumn.
 
In Bistrița Năsăud county, the winner of the award for the greatest WEEE amount collected/child was the Sports High School Bistrița, with 205.4 kg WEEE collected during the program. The award for the most active teacher was granted toMrs. Teodora Popescu, from the Center for Inclusive Education Bistrița. The award for the most pro-active team went to the General School no 1 Bistrița.
In Călărași county, the winner of the award forthe greatest WEEE amount collected/child was Mihai Eminescu High School, with 49 kg WEEE collected during the program. The award for the most active teacher was granted to Mrs. Ioana Mladin, from the Arts and Craftsmanship School Matei Basarab in Mânăstirea. The award for the most pro-active team went to the Arts and Craftsmanship School Matei Basarab in Mânăstirea.
In Hunedoara, the winner of the award forthe greatest WEEE amount collected/child was the Economic High School Emanoil Gojdu, with almost 9 kg WEEE collected during the program. The award for the most active teacher was granted to Mrs.Viorela Sandu, the Kindergarten with long day care no  7 in Deva, that also won the award for  the most pro-active team.
In Prahova, the winner of the award for the greatest WEEE amount collected/child was the School  George Emil Palade in Ploiești, with 103,86 kg WEE. The award for the most active teacher was granted to Mrs. Iustina Ionela Necula, from the Educational Group Romeo Constantinescu in Vălenii de Munte, that also won the award for  the most pro-active team. The School George Emil Palade in Ploiești also received the special award for the greatest amount collected in the country – 2,596.6 kg WEEE.
In Teleorman, the winner of the award for the greatest WEEE amount collected/child was the General School no 1 in Măldăeni, with 19.3 kg WEEE collected during the program. The award for the most active teacher was granted to Mrs. Amalia Rotaru, from the School no 6 in Alexandria, that received the award for the most pro-active team, too.Mihai Eminescu General School was granted the special award for the greatest amount collected in the county – 1,137 kg WEEE.
In Timiș, the winner of the award forthe greatest WEEE amount collected/child was the Center for Inclusive Education Constatin Păunescu in Recaș, with 20.96 kg WEEE. The award for the most active teacher was granted to Mrs. Maria Cristina Apostol, from the Kindergarten with long day care no 24 in Timișoara, that received the award for the most pro-active team, too. The Kindergarten with long day care no 14 in Timișoara was granted the special award for the greatest amount collected in the county -1,912.5 kg WEEE.
In Tulcea county, the winner of the award forthe greatest WEEE amount collected/child was the General School Constantin Gavenea in Tulcea, with 86,70 kg WEEE. The award for the most active teacher was granted toMr. Marin Constantin Cleșiu, from the General School Turcoaia, that  received the award for the most pro-active team, too.
 
The national awards, offered by Philips and Indesit, founding members of RoRec Association, went to the participants in Bistrita. The Sports High School Bistrița was the institution that collected the greatest amount/member of the Recycling Patrol – 205.4 kg WEEE. The most active teacher was designated Mrs Teodora Popescu (Center for Inclusive Education no 1 Bistrița). From the 24 proposals, the special award for the best poster was granted to the Center for Inclusive Education no 1 Bistrița.
 
Călărași is the county that collected the highest amount of WEEE during the program, i.e. 9,000 kg. The School George Emil Palade in Ploiești alone collected the impressive amount of 2,596.6 kg WEEE. Timiș county, already familiar with the project since the first semester 2011, reported more than 30 projects.
