The first 4 counties to win the national award of the Recycling Patrol 2014!

Bucharest, 9 September Bihor, Covasna, Sibiu and Vâlcea counties won the national awards of the environment education program the Recycling Patrol – 2013-2014 edition! The Romanian Recycling Association will organize an eco-party for each county where all students and teachers of the local Patrols can celebrate their victory. They succeeded in convincing their co-citizens to send to recycling more than 50 g of WEEE/inhabitant of the county during 15 November 2013 – 31 August 2014!

Their success would not have been possible without the help of the Supporters – companies, organizations and citizens who responsibly disposed of e-waste on the account of the Patrols.

During the 2013-2014 edition only, the national team of about 20,000 active participants convinced thousands of people to collect more than 360,000 kg of e-waste. Thus, due to their endeavours, the hazardous substances of this type of waste will not get to damage the environment, as it has already been transferred to recycling plants.  Furthermore, important amounts of secondary raw materials – metal, glass, plastic – will be recovered according to environmental protection standards and the irrational use of natural resources will be avoided.

Bihor, Covasna, Sibiu and Vâlcea counties will celebrate the Day of the Recycling Patrol between 26 September -12 October and alll agents, coordinating teachers and their supporters are invited to take part. “The party will kick off with eco-educational and creative workshops, will go on with the stories of the patrols and their supporters and will end with a concert of Los Hermanos Dinamita”, said Alexandra Arnautu, the project manager.

The Day of the Recycling Patrol is aimed to celebrate the success of the communities who by their involvement showed that they care about the future and the ideals of the young people.
