As of this March, we have carried out 190 WEEE collection mini-events in 39 counties. Supported by the authorities and over 2,000 volunteers, we collected an impressive quantity of WEEE – over 850 tons from more than 45,000 participating citizens.
The mechanism of the events carried out under the „Waste doesn’t belong at home. Take it for a hike!” campaign implied the existence of provisional collection points where citizens from the localities covered by the project could bring WEEE. In case of heavy or large equipment, we assisted the citizens with special helplines and, as a result of their requests, we picked-up the equipment at their homes in order to send it for recycling, according to the environmental norms.
“The outcome of more than eight months of collection mini-events demonstrates once again that citizens need these services, appreciate our project and are certain that all the equipment will be recycled according to the environmental norms in force. The concern for the environment is clearly becoming a reality, entirely confirmed by the turnout of this national campaign, as well as by the feedback we got from the participants.”, stated Mr. Liviu Popeneciu, President of the RoRec Association.
The campaign benefited from the assistance of over 2,000 volunteers – school students and their coordinating teachers – who helped us both implementing and promoting the events.
Every citizen who brought WEEE either at the collection points or to our teams was enlisted for the raffles organized in each of the over 550 localities covered by our campaign. During the raffles, we designated the winners of the prizes offered by our partners: Albastros,
