We celebrate 15 years of excellence in e-waste recycling!

The Romanian Recycling Association will participate in the Malta WEEE Forum Conference on 26-27 April 2017. The WEEE Forum, the voice of thirty-one WEEE producer compliance schemes in Europe and Australasia, last year collecting and responsibly recycling to the highest standards 1.88 million tonnes of e-waste, will celebrate 15 years of excellence this year.

On this occasion, Malta, which is at the helm of the EU Council of Ministers, will organize a special conference, in the fringe of the meeting of the Environment Ministers, that will be addressed, among other high-level representatives, by Karmenu Vella, EU Environment Commissioner and Joseph Muscat, Prime Minister of Malta.

The conference will provide the opportunity to debate on the WEEE sector’s role in a circular, resource efficient economy; how the EU’s action plans affect future and responsibilities of compliance schemes; and how Europe can be turned into a circular society.

Since 2002 the WEEE Forum compliance schemes have worked on behalf of over 16.000 producers of electrical appliances to collect, recycle and recover to the highest treatment standards more than 17.4 million tonnes of waste electrical and electronic equipment; that’s the equivalent of 17.400 Eiffel Towers.
