The Recycling Patrol back to school!

Starting September 18th, the teachers all over the country can register online at  www.patruladereciclare.rofor the 2014-2015 edition of the Recycling Patrol, the national program of environment education.

By registering his/her school into the program, each coordinating teacher becomes a member of a national team of ecologists who militate for encouraging the habit of WEEE separate collection in Romania. During the last season only, more than 1000 teachers and 18,500 children contributed to the separate collection of 360,000 kg of WEEE and made hundreds of thousands of people aware of the importance of e-waste collection.

”These numbers are a proof of a remarkable success in the environment education in Romania, with positive impact upon all society. The coordinating teachers participating since the program was launched have so far brought to their schools more than 200 prizes, a WEEE collection system and educational materials, offered their students the opportunity to learn new things about the environment and more importantly spread the education outside the school walls, into the community. At this time of the year the national awards are granted for Bihor, Covasna, Sibiu and Vâlcea, where the Recycling Patrols succeeded in collecting at least 50 g of WEEE/inhabitant, at the previous edition, with the help of the Supporters. The celebration of their success is the most convincing argument for taking part in this program”, says Alexandra Arnăutu, the project manager.

The teachers who assessed the 2013-2014 edition declared (for 98%) that the Recycling Patrol was a positive experience and they would like to come back into the program. ”The children learn from us, we learn from the children, we complement each other and beautiful things come out of it. All students are very active, ask help from people around them, their schoolmates and the teachers of other groups. We, the teachers, in our turn, mobilize the neighbors, relatives, everybody. We feel like an engine, connecting all around us” says Daniela Alecu, coordinating teacher of the Recycling Patrol of the Day Care Center Giulești in Bucharest at the 2013-2014 edition.

Hundreds of educators and teachers have the opportunity to bring a positive change in their schools and communities, by registering for the new edition of the program between September 18th and October 15th 2014. At the end of the edition, in 2015, more than 100 prizes await their winners.

Hurry up, the places in the program are limited!
