RoRec Projects

06.07.2010

Welcome!

A warm welcome to our new partners that have joined the batteries and portable accumulators collection network, which was launched last year as a CSR project dedicated to companies: Timişoara Airport, Adevarul Holding, EuroSandow, ElectroTotal, Lafarge Cement, ProData, Renault Technologie Roumanie, ScorpionExim and TransGaz. Thirteen new drop-off centres have been thus set up in eight towns where these companies carry out their activities.

The RoRec Association has developed a collection system that is easy to set up and involves no implementation costs for the partner companies, offering the possibility to promote these companies’ image as partners in an educational project. Our initiative comes in a context where more and more organisations wish to become involved in social responsibility projects.

‘Renault has an environmentally-friendly approach world-wide and so implementing this strategy at local level is a natural step for us. We are loyal to our green mission and we saw the success of the paper recycling project that we have been implementing in our Bucharest offices since 2007, so we decided to start collecting batteries, too. In this way we can implement a system that would help our colleagues protect nature. At the same time, we have a simple, but significant contribution to diminishing the impact on the environment. We consider the RoRec initiative is truly praiseworthy, really helping us to live in a cleaner environment,’ said Bianca MARCU, Attaché Communication Interne, Direction de la Communication Renault Technologie Roumanie.

‘”To be a man is to be responsible,” said Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
‘You look left and right and see that much more can be done for the environment. Many people would give a hand, but do not know what to do and how. Some are too busy to think about it, others too complacent. We all like to live in a clean and unpolluted environment, but we do too little to keep it that way. Every day, we make decisions that have an impact on the environment, and sometimes we throw away things that could be recycled, without thinking too much about it.
‘An environment management science must now promote a new approach to consumption, in order to give back to nature a burst of positive energy and put an end to the current waste of resources.
‘I think that this programme helps people who think green and also raises awareness among the indifferent. A selective waste collection process makes people aware that they can help protect the environment and their health,’
said Eng. Iulia-Oana Vacar, representative of Electro-Total.

Any company joining this project can offer a useful service to its employees and, in addition, it actively educates and informs them about environment protection, becomes a model for other companies and proves that care for resources and green education are real concerns of modern organisations, rather than mere empty words.
