WEEE collection campaigns across the country

All citizens of Romania have a right to be informed and to live in a cleaner environment, so we have extended the scope of our WEEE collection actions in the areas covered by our temporary drop-off centres set up in partnership with the townhalls.

At the end of June, two information and collection actions were organised in Vălenii de Munte (Prahova county) and Brad (Hunedoara county) and the neighbouring communes – Gura Vitioarei and Predealul Sărari, and Criscior and Ribiţa respectively.

‘We’ve reached our collection target of over 5 metric tons of WEEE, with the help of our partners, the municipalities, whom I would like to thank for their efforts and for their care for the environment in their community,’ said Adrian Vlase, RoRec drop-off centres manager.

A temporary drop-off centre was set up in each of the four communes and the WEEE collected there was taken to the permanent centres in Vălenii de Munte and Brad.

In order to encourage the local people to bring the old equipment to the drop-off centres, several prizes were offered: small household appliances for the first ten persons who handed over old equipment and promotional materials for all the others.

The project continued on 3rd of July in Săcălaz, Timiş county, and the neighbouring communes - Jimbolia, Cărpiniş, Beregsau Mare, Sânicolau Mare, Lovrin, Sandra and Biled. The people of Banat proved once again to be the champions of tidiness: over 8 tons of WEEE were collected from the eight communities, within a few hours only.
