Waste management in Ilfov county. What is to be done?

At the end of March, the Ilfov Environmental Protection Agency and the Voluntari Town Hall organised a round table on ‘Waste Management in Ilfov County’.

The Romanian Association for Recycling RoRec joined the representatives of all town halls in Ilfov county, of the Prefect’s Office, of the County Council, officials from the Ministry for the Environment and Forestry, the National Environmental Protection Agency and other institutions in order to bring to the fore the solution for waste electrical and electronic equipment management as part of a European management system.

The topics discussed included enforcement of and compliance with waste management legislation, financing environment projects and municipal waste management within integrated systems.

At the same time, the Ilfov county authorities organised a greening action in the Andronache and Miciurini forests and on Valea Saulei in Voluntari. Here, the members of the ‘Volunteers for Voluntari’ programme, together with the pupils from the local schools, cleaned these green areas of the waste polluting the environment.

The event included a raffle with prizes offered by Arctic, the well-known producer of home appliances, open for all those who took care of the environment and brought their waste electrical and electronic equipment to the Drop-off Centre.
