The „Waste doesn’t belong at home. Take it for a hike!” campaign had collected, by the end of August, 20,000 kilos of WEEE in the counties of Prahova and Hunedoara

The end of August caught the RoRec Association’s team involved simultaneously in two actions of WEEE collection in the counties of Prahova and Hunedoara.

During the last week-end of August, the RoRec Association, together with the Municipalities in Câmpina, Brebu, Băneşti, Cornu and Poiana Câmpina, have helped locals in the area dispose of their old electrical and electronic appliances, providing them, in return, with discount vouchers for new purchases.

The 300 locals around Câmpina area, who have collected 600 home appliance items, amounting approximately 10,000 kg WEEE, have been enlisted in raffle with prizes such as home appliances and 150 lei vouchers, provided by the Ronor Company, a RoRec affiliate member. The champions from Câmpina have been awarded prizes during a show put together in the centre of Câmpina, performed by students of “Green School programme.

In the Hunedoara County, too, over 250 townsfolk from Orăştie – ancient cradle of Dacian civilization - Simeria, Geoagiu and six other nearby villages have shown civic spirit and environmental awareness. They have brought, at the drop off points, 550 home appliances, amounting to 10,000 kg. All the participants have been entered in a raffle, with the winners receiving 5 DHS bicycles and 100 lei shopping tickets. The tickets are designated for use with any purchase of a Whirlpool item from the Flanco store in Deva.

Our activities keep going on throughout September. We’ll keep you up to date with our results.
