RoRec Projects
The RoRec Association in support of a healthy life in a clean environment
On Environment Day, the Romanian Association for Recycling RoRec was directly involved in the organisation of ‘Dialogues…’, a charity concert organised by the Bucharest Athenaeum Rotary Club at the Bucharest Music University in support of the Urological Surgery Department of the CF 2 Clinical Hospital in Bucharest.
‘We didn’t hesitate for a moment to bring our contribution to this event organised in support of the Urological Surgery Department of the CF 2 Clinical Hospital in Bucharest, because we strongly believe that informing people about the causes of such diseases is an essential form of prevention. Doctors are for us a very important channel of communication, because their advice to patients can help people understand what triggers the diseases and how to prevent rather than cure,’ said Mr. Liviu Popeneciu, president of the RoRec Association.
The concert is part of a project in support of the Urological Surgery Department of the CF 2 Clinical Hospital in Bucharest, coordinated by Dr. Bogdan Streza. Its aim is to raise funds to replace the acoustic shock wave source for the extracorporeal shock wave lithotripter (ESWL), designed to generate approximately 800,000 impulses, but which has already gone beyond 4,000,000. The equipment is used for the non-invasive treatment of kidney stones and the shock wave source costs 12,000 euro.
‘We decided to become involved in this project as the association’s activities target environment protection and we implicitly support the battle for a healthy life. It’s part of the organisation’s philosophy,’ said Liviu Popeneciu. ‘This is part of a calendar of activities that will be carried out in July, a month which is particularly important for us, we celebrate Environment Day on the 1st of July,’ added the president of RoRec.
The care for the environment where we live is one of the essential factors for a healthy life and for the prevention of disease or imbalances in the organism. The current concern for waste electrical and electronic equipment collection and recycling is not only the effect of the objectives set by EU legislation and it is not a merely fashionable topic. The Romanian Association for Recycling RoRec makes every effort to make people aware that this type of waste is ten times more harmful than any other and that it contains highly toxic heavy metals. Only few of these, such as mercury, cadmium or lead, have severe effects on the human body in general and the kidneys in particular. This kind of initiative can also help reduce the incidence of such diseases in Romania.
