RoRec - the most beautiful dream coming true. By Ioana Bunaciu

During such events, it is important to hear the volunteers’ opinion. Ioana Bunaciu, one of our volunteers in Gura Riului, wrote to us.

Joining the Romanian Association for Recycling and the seven team members has been an extraordinary and pleasant experience.

I thought it was a great and unexpected experience at the same time, because I met new people, I got to see new customs and I learned many new phrases.

At the beginning, it seemed a bit strange. When I first went to meet them, I was wondering ‘What do they want us to do here?’… I had no idea at the start, but then I understood and it was great.
I liked handing out leaflets to people and putting up posters. It was very tiring, but we managed it. I thought that going to Orlat, Cristian Sacel, Saliste and Tilisca was very nice and interesting, too, because we all had lots of fun!

On Saturday, we went to the ‘Rhododendron Festival’ to hand over all sorts (ecological bags to put the rubbish in, rubbish bags, plastic gloves to wear when you pick up the rubbish, eco ash-trays for cigarette buts); all these objects were ecological. We went to each person and offered them these things and we explained what it was all about.

Sunday was even better… in the morning we all went to see the Young Men of Sibiu dancing, then we went to the Festival where we continued to hand over all those objects to the people there.

I have almost forgotten one little thing: these people came to us and to the other communes to help people get rid of old and useless appliances in their homes… that is why they opened a tent in our Pavilion and all those old and useless bits of equipment were gathered there, home appliances and many objects you just plug in.

The worst moment was when we had to say good-bye. What can I say now? I will never forget you! I’m sending you a big kiss and I’ll be waiting for you to come next year, too. This year, too, if possible!!!!!
