RoRec Projects

This year we became partners in the CSR project developed by Tuborg România and well-known by the public as the ‘Umbrela Verde’ (Green Umbrella) project. Umbrela Verde is an environment awareness-raising campaign initiated by Tuborg România, in the summer of 2007. The campaign’s objectives aim to change the Romanians’ incorrect belief that ‘what I do doesn’t really matter’, and to convince them that, together, we must keep Romania clean, through actions based on the personal example. RoRec joined the Umbrela Verde actions in order to encourage WEEE collection in various towns (Cluj, Timişoara, Braşov, Sinaia, Mangalia) and, most importantly, to set up collection points in partnership with the town halls and with Umbrela Verde. Within the projects we have run so far, we opened two Collection Centres at Mangalia and Sinaia, we cleaned parks, forests and beaches, we collected enough WEEE to fill five containers and we ran public information activities. We involved the public in various activities (raffles, stars competitions, environment-related questionnaires, etc). At Christmas time, together with Umbrela Verde, we were part of a cultural project organised in Bucharest, on 17 December.
The project was accompanied by greening actions, WEEE collection, meetings with the press, all meant to send on behalf of Damian Drăghici a message of responsibility. Grammy-winner Damian Drăghici is himself a model for the community, a promoter of intercultural values, whose merits were recognised worldwide.

Green actions that accompanied the concert took place on 10, 12 and13 December, in Bucharest, in Piata Lahovari and in Sector 6. Thursday, 10 December, our volunteer teams, together with Damian Drăghici, offered drivers brochures about recycling and ‘I don’t throw litter on the street’ stickers. On 12 -13 December, over 50 volunteers were involved in a door-to-door collection action in Sector 6, managing to collect over one metric ton of WEEE. All those who handed over outdated equipment at the Umbrela Verde tent or to the mobile teams had the chance to take part in the raffle offering tickets to Damian Drăghici’s concert on 17 December.
