New partners in the batteries collection network: Ambient and Gmarket

Two new retail chains have joined the ‘Batteries and portable accumulators collection pilot programme’ initiated by the Romanian Association for Recycling RoRec: Ambient and Gmarket said ‘Yes!’ to RoRec’s proposal.

Ambient offers to its clients the possibility to bring used batteries to 11 shops and, in addition, the network has taken an important step on the road to responsible recycling awareness-raising. Gmarket, the second chain which has recently joined the programme, facilitates batteries collection in six locations. As these two companies join the RoRec Association programme, 80 collection points are now available in 30 towns.

Actually, it was not long after the beginning of this programme that major retail chains expressed their interest to join it. So far, the RoRec Association has developed partnerships with retail chains such as Baumax, Metro, Praktiker, Obi and, recently, with Gmarket and Ambient.

‘Alba Iulia, Gheorghieni, Mediaş, Sighişoara, Râmnicu Vâlcea and Bistriţa are towns which have been recently added to the list of places where citizens can collect used batteries thanks to the RoRec initiative and to the companies that got involved at local level,’ said Nicoleta Manda – RoRec project manager. ‘At the same time, we estimate that by the end of May the partnership network will be significantly enlarged as more and more companies and major retail chains are interested in joining our project and in making in this way a difference for the environment where they live and work,’ she concluded.

We invite companies who wish to join our batteries and portable accumulators collection programme to contact us at office@rorec.ro
