In 2010, we initiated a national waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) collection campaign, partnering with the townhalls. At the end of September 2011, the “Waste doesn’t belong at home. Take it for a hike!” campaign totals 214 actions carried out throughout the country that helped collect almost 1,000 tons of waste electrical and electronic equipment.

Alba, Bacau, Bihor, Bistrita Nasaud, Botosani, Braila, Brasov, Buzau, Calarasi, Caras Severin, Constanta, Covasna, Dambovita, Dolj, Galati, Giurgiu, Gorj, Harghita, Hunedoara, Ialomita, Iasi, Ilfov, Maramures, Mehedinti, Mures, Neamt, Prahova, Salaj, Satu Mare, Sibiu, Suceava, Teleorman, Timis, Tulcea, Valcea, Vaslui and Vrancea are the 37 counties we have reached with the “Waste doesn’t belong at home. Take it for a hike!” campaign carried out in partnership with the local authorities.

With support from our partners – Albastros, Arctic, Bosch, Candy, Carrefour, Comatex, Philips, Severin, Skil and Whirpool – we organized prizes draws and offered prizes to the luckiest of the over 50,000 participants to the campaign, from 2010 to date.

“The outreach of our campaign demonstrates once again the need for a waste electrical and electronic equipment collecting system. The feedback and involvement of such a large number of people, as well as the collected WEEE quantity are positive signs for our efforts that will surely continue. We want to thank again our partners, the local authorities and the volunteers for their involvement in our projects.”, stated Mr. Liviu Popeneciu, President of the RoRec Association.

During this period of time, over 2,200 volunteers got involved in the waste home appliances and electronic equipment collection actions conducted by the Romanian Recycling Association RoRec.
