The little artists from Hunedoara

At the end of March, the partnership between RoRec and the Hunedoara Town Hall setting up WEEE Drop-off Centre no. 13 was launched.

The people from the neighbouring town, Deva, got involved as well, so we managed to gather almost 6.5 metric tons of WEEE, meaning over 608 appliances handed over by 367 people.

This campaign was further proof that the involvement of the local authorities, particularly the Town hall team led by Mayor Ovidiu Hada, can make a difference. Thus Hunedoara has joined the RoRec top of towns with the highest collection rates.

We also organised a special photography competition for the children of Hunedoara. This is what they told us.

‘I found out about the campaign from the posters at school and at the waste electrical equipment Drop-off Centre in front of Casa de Cultură. Any waste collection action is welcome, helping us to preserve a cleaner atmosphere,’ said Marius Conţiu, 12 Grade student at the ‘Matei Corvin’ Technical College.

‘The RoRec Association has had a positive influence in our town and we hope this will continue. The campaign went further than the collection of waste electrical and electronic equipment. It also managed to bring many young people together. RoRec has helped us, the people of Hunedoara, to take an important step towards a cleaner community,’ said Rebeca Seman, 10 Grade student at the ‘Emanoil Gojdu’ Economics College in Hunedoara, the winner of the 1st prize in the photography competition.
