New actions, together with Green Umbrella
RoRec, the Romanian Association for Recycling, has had an active contribution to the actions organized as part of the Romania’s Green Capital project, which took place in Cluj Napoca, Braşov and Sfântu Gheorghe over the last month, benefitting from the support of the local authorities.
The RoRec volunteers have established temporary drop off points in the three cities. Each stage of the programme lasted for three days. Over 600 deponents have turned in old or out-of-order equipment, proving their active involvement in securing a clean environment for the future. The locals in Sfantu Gheorghe proved to be the most active, as the total quantity of WEEE collected there was around 3,000 kilograms.
All the locals who have supported their hometown in the race to be named Romania’s Green Capital have received a badge identifying them as “capital” supporters, as well as a ticket for the raffle with prizes in the form of household appliances offered by Black&Decker and Whirlpool, RoRec members.
Moreover, the Green Umbrella team – an environmental responsibility project initiated by Tuborg in the summer of 2007 – together with the volunteers, municipality and police representatives, have distributed, among drivers passing through the main intersections in the cities, stickers stating that “I don’t throw trash in the street”, also informing them of the actions comprised in Romania’s Green Capital project.
With this campaign, organized, over the last few months, “under” the Green Umbrella, the RoRec Association has collected over 10,000 kilograms of WEEE.
