Household appliances for the elderly at the Antim Ivireanu home
The townhall of Calarasi, assisted by the RoRec WEEE Collection Center from the town, joined the elderly from the Antim Ivireanul home in the Christian celebration of the Feast of Dormition. Thus, the home received a semi-professional Whirlpool washing machine with a 10-kilogram capacity and an LCD Grundig TV set with panoramic display.
The initiative took place during the events of the Marine Day – celebrated every year on Saint Mary Day – Monday, August 15th, in Calarasi. Mr. Nicolae Dragu, the Mayor of Calarasi and Mr. Gheorghe Moise, Director of the Home for the Elderly were also accompanied by officials of the local authorities and the RoRec Association.
“Just like it happens with WEEE, where one simple action like dropping off an obsolete appliance can have an important positive effect on the environment, the fact of donating a TV set and a semi-professional washing machine to the Home for the Elderly, together with the RoRec Association, has a significant impact on improving the quality of life for the elderly cared for at the center from Calarasi. We have found a strong partner in the RoRec Association and we hope to continue the collaboration for as long as possible”, stated Nicolae Dragu, Mayor of Calarasi.
“Local townhalls are important partners for the RoRec Association, both in developing the collection activities and in supporting the WEEE Collection Centers. We therefore believe that the close relationship with the townhalls also translates into our involvement in the life of the communities where we work, in social causes, such as the one at the Sf. Antim Ivireanul home for the elderly in Calarasi”, stated Alexandru Niculae, local representative of the RoRec Association.
Starting July 9th this year, the WEEE Collection Center from Calarasi provides services both to the population and to companies and institutions, through an “Infoline” desk available Monday through Friday between 09:00 a.m. and 06:00 p.m. and on Saturday between 09:00 a.m. and 04:00 p.m., at phone number 0737.058.875. Companies and institutions can also place requests for the pick-up of obsolete equipment for scrapping, using the same infoline number. The reception of the old or defective equipment is done directly at the center located on Locomotivei street, every Saturday between 09:00 a.m. and 01:00 p.m., while heavy or large appliances can be picked-up for free, following a request made at the same desk number.
